My Black Valentine's Day

Every February, across the country, candy, flower
s, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday? The history of Valentine's Day -- and its patron saint -- is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. So, who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? Today, the Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. Also, is cupid trying to steal the sot light of Mr. Valentine? Who knows…try searching the web and you’ll find no definite or concrete data about it, there is so much mystery...so, is Valentine’s Day about Love at all?

“Have a clear Black Valentines. Be Bold. Be black!” – I kind of agree with CLEAR’s slogan, it’s really annoying when valentine’s day come and you see almost everywhere couples wearing the same clothing – color/print/style, and bringing balloons, flowers, and whatnots. Ok I might be jealous but right now it isn’t my priority, so all single peeps must unite!! BLACK is the color of the DAY!!!

You see, it’s like we are on strike or something, my classmates and schoolmates wearing black. The only thing good about valentine’s for me is that my cousin’s birthday happens to be on the 14th so it’s like a celebration with food and stuff. (mmmmm..cake!)
