WHAT IN HEAVEN’S NAME IS THIS? This is exactly why there was a Separation of Church and State. The basic reason why the church should not meddle with political matters is because based from what I learned in my Jesuit training is because of “Free Will”. The Lord respects and trust us enough that we were given the gift of “free will” and we should do the same to our fellow men because it is not our right nor place to judge one another. Ok, I get the search for truth thing and all but if he thinks he can replicate what Pope John Paul II did, then he must be crazy? The Pope never did said anything to degrade others nor even “Condemn” them as what this Archbishop did.
It is only God who can judge the faith of a person. To publicly declare that a person may not receive communion is unbecoming of a shepherd of souls. For it is Jesus Himself who said, "If you have 100 sheep and one of them went astray would you leave the 99 and search for the lost one? I tell he will lose no time in searching for the lost. For the Son of Man did not come for the righteous but for sinners."
Yes, yes this might appear that I’m judging the guy but does he really think that he himself never did commit sin in his whole lifetime? We are Human, limited, unique and imperfect and as the song goes “I’m only human, born to make mistakes!!...”. As a shepherd of souls, foremost among the duties of Archbishop Cruz is to be a communicator of God's love and mercy. Instead of declaring publicly that he will not give communion to GMA, he should continue denouncing evil deeds. Condemn the evil deeds but not the sinner. Just like Jesus' refusal to condemn the woman caught committing adultery by the Pharisees.
I know that we are condemning him too but as what I’ve read, he should not be excommunicated unless he fits the criteria (I dunno the criteria for excommunication), the best thing to deal with him I guess is to be demoted from his rank and undergo some re-training. Furthermore, we should let him realize his own shortcomings and mistakes and if he asks for a public apology then we should forgive since that is the Christian way (But of course, he must be humble and sincere with the priesthood re-training or reflection).
"Judge not lest you be judged." "Let the one who is without sin cast the first stone." Nuff Said.

I remember yelling at person of the Church in a pool. Under the influence. Then he never smiled back at me ever again.
I was so sorry I "ruined" his career...
NOT.
I certainly agree
You therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass the judgments do the same things. -Rom. 2:1
It pains me to know that someone told in public about "known sinners". No one is in the position that one is sinner or not. Who never sinned?
Thank you! I have been trying to find out who this priest is and I'm glad you posted something about him.
No man is allowed to judge other people. Only God can do that! And refusing to give sinners the body of Christ is scandalous! Even Jesus Christ himself ate with sinners because he never discriminates because Jesus is for the sinners.
How dare he say that. he is definitely not God.
@Vincent Bautista
Yes, yes, he is not God. Which perfectly makes sense to say he is, afterall, still human. And it makes me laugh the way others say that only God can pass judgment to others when look at all the rest of us doing just the same thing. Playing God-like, I suppose? He is human, which truly should not leave us bewildered with his actions. He might be considering resigning from being an archbishop, but that is definitely another story to tell.
@iggy
True, there is the separation of the church and state, but what separation are we exactly referring to here? In what terms?
Another point. Condemn the evil deeds. Check. But not the sinner? I have my second thoughts on that. I'm not a priest. So I guess I can condemn Gloria all I want. So I guess, if one is a priest, one cannot condemn a politician, a public sinner, a liar, a cheater, and a thief for that matter? I, again, have my second thoughts on those things.
Oh, and by the way, the thought that the archbishop may have indeed committed sins in his lifetime does not make Gloria any cleaner or worthy of any exaltation.
"Let the one who is without sin cast the first stone." We're working on the premise that we've all sinned. Does it mean we should let Gloria be, and remain useless idiots for the rest of our lives?
And since I'm not a priest (and I don't intend to be one), I opine that Gloria does not deserve the sanctity of the body of Christ.
