Thesis, Thesis, Thesis . . .

A dissertation (also called thesis or disquisition) is a document that presents the author's research and findings and is submitted in support of candidature for a degree or professional qualification. The word "thesis" comes from the Greek θέσις, meaning "position", and refers to an intellectual proposition. "Dissertation" comes from the Latin dissertātiō, meaning "discourse."

You can be writing a thesis for several reasons: because you need to write one to get a degree, because you need extra credit to enter a higher educational institution, because you want to become familiar with serious scientific researches, or because you really are into these researches.

The last situation reminds a lot a story with the oldest university student Edgar Dowse, who has received his seventh PhD at the age of 93. Whatever your reason for thesis writing is, it is only a starting point for a complicated and long-term research.

I have 2 subjects with thesis this semester and although I am underloaded, this projects consumes insane amounts of my time no matter how I manage it. The Design Project is somewhat "OK" so far so good, while the Industrial Research Project with (Theory Building - Option) is somewhat a little hard to handle. My IRP is "A Proposed Inventory Control System for Sari-sari Stores". The challenges for this research is the Respondents themselves, they don't seem to be open to us students in investigating their processes and ultimately improve their business which would be good for them in the long run. It is frustrating that they think that business is "Swerte-swerete lang" (Sales are determined by Luck). Hopefully we can get through this and be able to gather enough data for our Oral Validation.
