Sa Tesda, may choice ka: Sisibol ang kinabukasan mo!

You’ve scanned the newspapers, jobsites and so forth, made multiple copies of your CV / Resume, prepared your attire for the interview, and probably practiced your lines on why you should get hired... BUT are you even sure that you are a FIT for the job? Many graduates are also doing the same preparation and competing against each other year after year, how can you increase your chances of getting hired?

Like many Filipinos, we want to work in order to provide a better life and a better future for our family. Competition for jobs these days is no longer limited to where you live; unemployment rate in our country is still rising; so how will you stand out from the rest and get a job?

Unfortunately, there is no secret formula to ensure success. However, there are those things you can work on yourself to make you pop out from the rest of the crowd. These are like special ingredients that when combined with the right timing and good luck, would build or pave the way to a prosperous future!

You need to have an edge, something that sets you apart. “Sibol” means “to grow”; it can also mean the beginning of something that has the potential to be great! Sa TESDA magiging isa kang SPECIALISTA!

Even if you are already a bachelor's degree holder it is always good to have a back-up plan, you need to have a skill that you can use in hard times just like today wherein the world is in a global financial crisis and many are jobless.

Like all good things, success comes to those who seek it. Building your career is like building a house, you need to have the proper foundation. You need to internalize, and absolutely know what you want; if unsure, map out your ideas, and see where it leads you. Or challenge yourself every time or just do it.

Always be prepared: “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.” – Oprah Winfrey
