Sustainable Wear at 3rd Green Fashion Revolution

In it's 3rd year, the Green Fashion Revolution showcases young designers' ingenuity with their interpretation and take on sustainable fashion wear. The Aboitiz Foundation once again sets out to discover couture ingenuity among Cebu's talented youth as it stages Green Fashion Revolution 2014.

For it's 3rd year,  the fashion design competition expands its award categories to illustrate the broader idea behind the theme: 'ECOUTURE: Green Design for a Better World'. The panel of judges are as follows: Fashion designers such as Dexter Alazas, Philip Tampus and Edwin Ao; Lifestyle Blogger and Stylist Ava Te-Zabat; and Malou Marasigan, AVP - Sustainability, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc..

The activity highlights the importance of the 3Rs - reduce, reuse, and recycle - as it challenged competing students from colleges and universities across Metro Cebu to creating clothing, footwear, and accessories that make use of recycled materials.

Along with designs for clothes and accessories, each school has a proposed environmental intervention program for their respective adopted barangay. Last year's winning team provided their beneficiary barangay with livelihood training in creating bags from used tarpulin.

About Green Fashion Revolution:
The Green Fashion Revolution was the brainchild of a group of Aboitiz scholars during the Aboitiz Scholars' CSR Summit in December 2011 and was first staged in 2012. Previous winners were from CIT-University (2012) and Cebu Normal University (2013).
