Winning 3rd @ Wicked Dreams Action Civics Fair & learning about Visayan innovative project ideas

This post is a bit late but it's now finally up! Before we get into the details, [SPOILER ALERT] >> I won third place!! Wohooh!! To make the long story short, I pitched a segment on #MentalHealth of my show Podcast-on-the-go.  The initiative is to raise awareness and encourages discussion about mental health. It's time to break the stigma.

Innovative project ideas and other tech-based projects by students from leading Visayan schools were showcased at the one-day Wicked Dreams Action Civics Fair held at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu last October 28, 2018.

Over 70 student participants and 14 participating teams took part in fair, which is on its first run this year, showcasing their exceptional talents in developing innovative projects for the community using digital media and technology.

”We organized Wicked Dreams to give students from the Visayas the chance to highlight their tech projects and encouraging the spirit of collaboration and innovation along the way,” said Fleire Castro Third Media Team CEO and lead event organizer.

“Apart from showcasing their projects, the fair will see participants pitching for the chance to get funding and mentoring for their ventures. Three lucky projects will be awarded seed money and mentoring for implementation in their schools and communities.”

The first place for the fair’s pitching competition went to the Dalangpangan, a student group from Cebu Normal University (CNU). The second place was given to Kultourismo while the third place was awarded to Vernon Joseph Go.

1st place: Cebu Normal University’s Dalangpanan: Dalangpanan Restorative Justice

The project aims to raise awareness on the issue of juvenile delinquency and at the same time break the stigma that goes along with it. Amplifying the voice of the youth is also part of this project's objectives. The People’s Choice Award was also awarded to CNU’s Dalangpangan.

2nd place: Iligan City’s kulTOURismo

This project aims to suffice and spread information on cultural diversity that may help in answering and correcting some misconceptions and prejudices in our society specifically in Lanao that will eventually promote cultural awareness.

The first place winner got a P25,000 cash prize, the second place P15,000 and the third place P5,000 seed money for project implementation.

The Best in Research Award was given to the Minor League Hackathon of the CCL CentrEx
