Hotel Peninsula-Manila & Escolta

We were given an opportunity to stay at The Peninsula Manila or popularly known as 'ManilaPen'. The Hotel Peninsula Manila is a hotel in Makati, Philippines. This post is about a briefer on my experience of the Hotel and of my awesome adventure in one the restaurants in it which is the ESCOLTA!

About Manila Peninsula Hotel:

Hotel Peninsula Manila is located on the corner of Ayala Avenue and Makati Avenue in the central business district of Makati City, in Metro Manila. It is located also in Barangay Urdaneta. This hotel is part of The Peninsula Hotels chain based in Hong Kong and is the first hotel of that chain outside of the Chinese territory.

About Escolta:

The all-day restaurant will include art deco flourishes that characterised the district of Escolta, which was the prime commercial and financial district of the Philippines in the first half of the 20th century. The name is said to have originated from the mid-19th century, when Spanish governors-general who ruled over what was then the easternmost outpost of the Spanish empire paraded down the street with mounted escorts en route to their palace and passersby would supposedly shout "escolta!" (escorts).

Escolta features vibrant open-plan kitchen with live action stations, home-baked breads, fresh pastas, hand rolled sushi, charcuterie, chinese noodles, carving stations, artisanal ice creams plus a "farm-to-table" concept that highlights fresh produce and favorite Filipino dishes.

It has a video art photo-wall and an aviation themed private room. The interiors are contemporary with Filipino motifs—cane-backed chairs with tropical upholstery, fish-trap lighting fixtures, and contemporary artworks by local artists.
