What the bible says about money
The bible addresses a lot of issues including money matters. This is because how you deal with money is an indication of what’s in your heart. Not only does the bible offer guidance about earning money, borrowing, but also about how to use your money wisely!
Here’s a quick collection of scriptural reference to money. You could say that WORD of God gives us a glimpse of God’s perspective regarding this topic.
The lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need - PSALM 23:1 NLT
In all labor there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty. - PROVERBS 14:23 NKJV
And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life - this is indeed a gift from God - ECCLESIASTES 5:19 NLT
Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time. - PROVERBS 13:11 NLT
Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life. - PSALM 62:10 NLT
Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. - PROVERBS 21:5 NLT
The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get. - PROVERBS 21:20 NLT
A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. - PROVERBS 22:3, 27:12 NLT
Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe, taxes, pay taxes, if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing dent to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law - ROMANS 13:7-8 NIV
One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another with-holds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. - PROVERBS 11:24-25 NIV
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. - PROVERBS 19:17 NIV
A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous. - PROVERBS 13:22 NIV
Do not be dismayed when the wicked grow rich and their homes become ever more splendid. For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will no follow them into the grave. In this life they consider themselves fortunate and are applauded for their success, but they will die all before them and never again see the light of day. People who boast of their wealth don’t understand; they will die, just like animals. - PSALM 49:16-20 NLT
And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field. The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements. - JAMES 1:10-11 NLT
What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange fr their soul? - MATTHEW 16:26 NIV
Consider the bible’s timeless truth about money and help you make wise decisions today, tomorrow or all the days of your life!
