Last week I talked about how higher education firms has become luxury brands and that their costs has become somewhat ridiculous. Education and technology has advanced a lot through the years and the internet has a lot to offer.

Whether you are learning to upgrade or equip yourselves with new skills, in pursuit of promotion or just bored, these free e-learning resources for Filipinos will definitely give you a lot of value.

The best parts about free online courses and free online learning is that anyone can take it and there is a variety out there to choose from and finish it at your own pace. It is an online platform developed in partnership between the ASEAN Foundation, Empire Code and Microsoft, as part of the ASEAN Digital Innovation program. The program aims to train 520 teachers and 46,000 underserved youth aged 15 to 35 on digital skills by 2020. Trainings will leverage the platform and be conducted by Empire Code as master trainer in eight ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam).

The Department of Science and Technology's (DOST) "Smarter Philippines Through R&D, Training and Adoption" (SPARTA) program, aims to produce 30,000 data scientists via online learning. Project SPARTA was launched in order to put in place the necessary online education, research and development mechanisms and infrastructure to not only enable the industry of data science and analytics but also to advance smart governance practices.
