Cebu Businesses Join Earth Hour
A mall, fastfood chain, two hotels and an advertisers’ organization switched off lights, billboards and signages in cebu city last night to join the global-movement Earth Hour, a one-hour “lights-out” event that aims to fuel awareness on global warming.
Over 700 mall tenants of SM City Cebu expressed their support by turning out 50 to 75 percent of their light sources from 8-9pm. (Not really full participation but more of a “Compromise” but hell SM has been the for front of setting an example of social-responsibility like the waste market, this earth-hour and the like, unlike hmm let’s sat Ayala Center?..nuff said)
Members of the Outdoor Advertisers Association of the Philippines Cebu Chapter (OAAP) Switched off the lights on about a hundred or so billboards maintained by the organization.
Cebu City Marriott Hotel added a twist to the 60-minute event. They offered a seafood candlelight dinner buffet at the pool bar, Garden Café and Palm Lodge (How Cool is that?!).
Fourteen Chowking stores in cebu and the rest of the JFC (Jollibee Foods Corp.) member stores participated in the event.
Cebu Daily News turned out its main lights in the newsroom, lobby and other offices as well as solidarity with the global initiative.
Hopefully Next year, more cebuanos and pinoys would join this event.
How about you, did you participate in this event? Yesterday I didn’t even blog and I resisted the temptations of the PC, take that Internet!!!! BWAHAHAHAHA
