eGWEN 2nd Partners' Conference-Reflection

Around 1,500 government officials and development partners attended the eGWEN 2nd Partners' Conference organized by the Cebu Provincial Government and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) on August 4, 2010 at the Cebu International Convention Center.

I was shocked to see so many government officials from barangay captains, to town/city councilors, to town/city mayors and governors not limited to cebu but from mindanao and visayas regions. I was amazed to hear some of the presentations of Officials who were able to make their town/city a tourist destination with other governance and advocacy ventures.

Other officials were talking about benchmarking and how they too can do it. Truly, there is no absence of goodwill and dreams of development, just an absence of trust. A youth assembly was held as well to invite and give more role to the youth. Although it wasn't that big, but it's a start I guess.

I just goes to show that there are things that we do not know and things that more than meets the eye. It will be better if the public was able to witness such an event and not just be accessible to partners, Tri/New Media but also to the public and the youth! Till the next eGWEN Partners' Conference!
