Last week I talked about how higher education firms has become luxury brands and that their costs has become somewhat ridiculous. Education and technology has advanced a lot through the years and the internet has a lot to offer.

Whether you are learning to upgrade or equip yourselves with new skills, in pursuit of promotion or just bored, these free e-learning resources for Filipinos will definitely give you a lot of value.

The best parts about free online courses and free online learning is that anyone can take it and there is a variety out there to choose from and finish it at your own pace. Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) e-learning - Access here:
The Agricutural Training Institute (ATI) is the training arm of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Learn about planting of vegetables, fruits, and high value crops, raising farm animals, and fishery.

TESDA Online Program - Access here:
The TESDA Online Program (TOP) is an open educational resource that aims to make technical education more accessible to Filipino citizens through the use of information and communication technologies.

University of the Philippines - Open University (UPOU) - Access here:
The University of the Philippines - Open University (UPOU) courses are designed to cater to different learning styles. UPOU's brand of MOOC, you are assured of free, relevant, quality courses.

Learn from MOOCs
A massive open online course (MOOC /muːk/) is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web.

MIT OpenCourseWare - Access here:
Massachusetts Institute of Technolgy OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a web-based publication of virtually all MIT course content. OCW is open and available to the world and is a permanent MIT activity.

University of London MOOC - Access here:
The university provides you with an opportunity to start studying from home to develop a personal interest, as a stepping stone to new career opportunities, or to help enhance your career as part of your continuing professional development (CPD).

Learn from Podcasts
If your internet bandwidth is limited or you have an unstable connection, then perhaps you are up for learning through recorded podcasts of various topics instead!

University of Oxford features many different podcasts. Most are public lecture series or lectures from visiting professors, with several different recordings available.

Privacy, Security and OSNIT show - Access here:

W.H.O. COVID19 Online Training - Access here:
More than 25 000 people across the globe have accessed real-time knowledge from WHO experts on how to detect, prevent, respond to and control the new coronavirus. The information from this is very important as Health lays the foundation for vibrant and productive communities.

A website dedicated specifically to teaching coding with a live practice window. This means you can practice coding while still viewing the lesson material.

HubSpot Academy is the worldwide leader in free online training for inbound marketing, sales, and customer service professionals.

Code - Access here:
Code is another website focused on coding and app writing. A site with high quality courses, Code also features learning options for kids.

PPC University - Access here:
PPC University by WordStream offers a free course on Pay-per-click advertising 101, 102 and advanced, together with access to articles, whitepapers and webinars as well.

CodeGym's Java tutorials - Access here:
CodeGym is an interactive online course for learning Java programming language from scratch. All courses are good for both beginners and advanced students (All level 0 courses are for Free).

GCF Global / GCF Learn Free - Access here:
The program offers more than 200 topics, including more than 2,000 lessons, more than 1,000 videos, and more than 50 interactives and games, completely free. Topics range from Microsoft Office classes to android and technology basics, social media and cloud use, digital photography and graphics.

Non-profit organizations from the Philippines and ASEAN have come up with their own collection of free mentoring or learning session that is accessible to the public covering entrepreneurship, social development, social enterprises, data, and more!

Go Negosyo's Mentor ME Online - Access here:
It is a program in partnership with the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship. FutureReadyASEAN - Access here:

It is an online platform developed in partnership between the ASEAN Foundation, Empire Code and Microsoft, as part of the ASEAN Digital Innovation program. The program aims to train 520 teachers and 46,000 underserved youth aged 15 to 35 on digital skills by 2020. Trainings will leverage the platform and be conducted by Empire Code as master trainer in eight ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam).

Sparkability - Access here:
Sparkability is a learning community for creative conscious entrepreneurs who are ready to rise above COVID-19. The Spark Project, together with the Young Southeast Asia Leaders Initiative of the US State Department has gathered experts, leaders, and fellow entrepreneurs across different industries and fields sharing practical techniques and tools that can help you bounce back from this setback.

Learn from Blogs
Some prefer video, others audio/podcasts, but others love to read and learn. Here are some online educational resources for Free for specific topics that are already compiled for structured learning. But there's plenty of blogs out there specializing on various other topics as well.

MS Excel Exposure - Access here:
MS Excel video tutorials have been created to assist you in everything Excel. Their FREE tutorials includes: Financial Planning Analysis, Functions and Formulas, to name a few.

Design School by Canva - Access here:
Canva teaches you to create designs that make an impact. If you are struggling on how to go from an idea to a completed design, sign up to Canva’s Design School.

Hack Design - Access here:
Hack Design offers weekly lessons to help you to be confident with typography and design.

Live Learning Events and Online Scholarships
These are free opportunities to learn but are not necessarily immediately accessible and offered only if you apply/register/follow them. Although some MOOCs have these live events as well, but the following are non-MOOCs (Government, Non-profit, Companies).

Project SPARTA - Access here:
The Department of Science and Technology's (DOST) "Smarter Philippines Through R&D, Training and Adoption" (SPARTA) program, aims to produce 30,000 data scientists via online learning. Project SPARTA was launched in order to put in place the necessary online education, research and development mechanisms and infrastructure to not only enable the industry of data science and analytics but also to advance smart governance practices. Greenpeace's Classroom of the Future - Access here:
Classrooms for Future: Youth Agenda for a #BetterNormal is a series of free virtual classes for young Filipinos (18 to 35 years old) seeking to level up their skills on advocacy campaigning.

Sun Talks: Wealth & Health Virtual Conference (Zoom) - More info.:
To celebrate Financial Independence Month, Sun Life Philippines has planned the Sun Talks Virtual Conference. This is a grand gathering of notable speakers who will discuss matters relevant to today's situation, as Filipinos strive to move forward amid a pandemic.

Google Business Group Ask Me Anything - Register here:
GBG Cebu, in partnership with Taxumo is holding an Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) session with an accountant! The event is accessible online for free on June 27, from 3-4PM.

There are thousands more you can find in YouTube or Vimeo and other video-sharing platforms that have hundreds of thousands of tutorials and how-to videos that you can learn more.

And there you have it! A list of online resources that offer free online courses and training for you to use during the lock-down/quarantine and perhaps beyond! Also, make sure to get a certificate to boost your CV and open the doors to more jobs for you in the future.
