Sun Star Photo Contest Launched

Sun Star Cebu, together with Basic graphics inc. and printing possibilities, have launched a Photo contest solely focusing on cebu. Sun Star’s photo Contest has two categories: “TEACH” and “MY CEBU.” The Photo Contest’s sponsors are DOT (Department of Tourism) and Photoshop.

You may get the registration form and at the same time submit your entries at any of the following areas: Sun Star P. del Rosario; Sun Star Fuente; Sun Star Mandaue; and/or Photoshop Baseline Center. Category Description:

• "TEACH" - photos should depict any forms of teaching e.g. students and teachers inside the class room, teaching a baby how to walk, etc.

• "MY CEBU" - photos must show what is Cebu for you (tourists spots, events or its life and culture.

General Rules and Guidelines:

1. Sun Star Photo Contest is open to all amateur and professional photographers in the Philippines except direct employees of the company and their relatives to the 3rd degree of consanguinity.

2. All photos submitted as entries must be taken within the contest dates.

3. Pictures must be colored or black and white.

4. Entry pictures must be in 8x10 prints, free of any watermarks or any markings and submitted with corresponding JPG and RAW/NEF files inside a CD or DVD.

5. Digital manipulation acceptable are adjustments to color, contrast, brightness and sharpness; removal of dust and scratches; cropping; and black and white conversions. Not acceptable are photo composites (combination of two or more photos); the addition; duplication; deletion or moving of objects in the photos; or the use of artistic digital filters and effects.

6. To join, applicants are required to fill out entry forms which they can get from any Sun Star Cebu Branch (p. Del Rosario St., Fuente or Mandaue Branch).

7. Submitted photos must have a date, name of photographer, brief description and must be identifiably taken in any place of Cebu for the "My Cebu" category.

8. Photos submitted must have been unpublished and should not have been posted in any website or social networking sites.

9. Only two (2) photos per category per month may be submitted free of charge per photographer. A charge of P100/photo will be imposed for additional entries up to a maximum of ten additional entries per category per month.

10. Judging of monthly entries will be based on entry number and not by photographer's name.

11. Two entries per category will be chosen as winners every month and these will qualify for the Grand Finals on October 2009.

12. Entries per month must be submitted on or before the following dates: May 30, June 30, July 30, August 30 and September 30, 2009. Winning entries every month will be announced in the newspaper. None-winning entries for the month will not qualify for the next month's judging.

13. Winning entries per month and for the Grand Finals will receive prizes stated below.

14. A special prize will be given to an entry that may be chosen as the cover of the Cebu Yearbook 2010 issue.

15. All winning entries will be published in the Cebu Yearbook 2010 issue.
16. The criteria for judging are on image quality (sharpness, exposure, and lighting), composition and relevance to the theme.

17. The decision of the Board of Judges shall be final.

18. All entries judged as finalists and winners shall become the property of Sun Star and cannot be reproduced or reprinted by any other publication without the permission of Sun Star Cebu. Photographers will be given photo credits every time the picture will be published.

Monthly Winners: P 2,000.00 worth gift certificates per chosen entry

Grand Prizes:
1st prize- P30,000.00
2nd prize- P20,000.00
3rd Prize- P10,000.00
