The 1st ELEMENTS National Songwriting Camp
Mr. C and me! |
Set against Dumaguete's beautiful beaches and rain forests, Elements aims to gather aspiring and professional songwriters from various disciplines and provide them with a venue to learn, collaborate, interact, and create music in a natural setting.
I was able to learn about this through Professor Ryan Cayabyab himself when we met him during the TV5 Auditions here in Cebu. The first in the Philippines, ELEMENTS will give aspiring songwriters the chance to be trained by Original Pilipino Music icons. From November 14 to 18, 60 participants will enjoy outdoor sessions, creative lectures, and one-on-one consultations with 24 of the country’s best artists and songwriters.
The 1st ELEMENTS National Songwriting Camp is to be LED by Mr Ryan Cayabyab, including Jim Paredes, Rico Blanco, Gary Valenciano, Louie Ocampo, Jonathan Manalo, Trina Belamide, Jungee Marcelo, Gabby Alipe of Urbandub, Yael Yuzon of Spongecola , and Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar. All of these will be happening on the shores of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, all expenses paid.
A total of sixty (60) aspirants will be accepted to be the first batch of ELEMENTS participants. There are Twenty (20) slots each from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao that will be made available. The process of selection will be through online application and live auditions. It will be handled and overseen by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and his working team of distinguished songwriters.
The final list of participants will be announced on September 22, 2010. For more information, you may visit http://www.7101musicnation.com.ph.
Hopefully they will allow some coverage to happen there, even not for the whole duration of the Camp! (crossing fingers)
