Zachary Nelson is an accomplished software industry executive and visionary with more than 20 years of leadership experience. CEO of NetSuite since 2002, Nelson led the company's successful IPO in 2007 and its rise from startup to a leading cloud computing company in the industry. He was named one of the 10 Visionary CEOs of 2008 by InternetNews.com. Nelson holds B.S. and M.A. degrees from Stanford University.

Zach Nelson's career began with executive positions in marketing, sales, product development and business strategy at some of the most influential and innovative technology companies, including Oracle, Sun Microsystems, and McAfee. As CEO of NAI subsidiary, myCIO, he created the world's first business-to-business security application services provider. Before that, Nelson was Vice President, World Wide Marketing at Oracle Corp., where he was responsible for global marketing strategy and implementation. Mr. Nelson, at 31 years old, was the youngest VP of Marketing in Oracle's history. At Sun, he drove the marketing and branding of the first version of the Solaris operating system, and led the product and corporate marketing effort at the company's SunSoft Division.

Up-close interview

Listening to a CEO (Zach Nelson) do the presentation himself in the Press Conference wowed me. He came of as really someone who really means business. Not just talking what's on the slides but actually walking the talk. As a frustrated and aspiring public speaker, I learned a lot just by listening to him and at the same time absorbing cloud-computing and NetSuite OneWorld PH. Aside from that, asking him questions at close quarters really was an interesting experience (It's not everyday you get to talk to someone like him). You get to see his passion for the business and his drive; It's not about the money or continuing it to gain more money, it's about Innovation, innovation that can help other businesses and communities, Zach said. Goes to show, I still have a long way to go and a lot of things to learn.
